The America Invents Act, which is awaiting signature by the President, contains several patent law changes that will have immediate effect. Other changes will take place over the next 12-18 months as the USPTO implements new regulations and guidance material.
The USPTO has established a website on which it will post information about the new patent law changes. The USPTO is also using the website to seek preliminary input and comment on the development of regulations that will implement new post-grant opposition procedures, prioritized examination options, and other features of the new law.
