Effective September 30, 2007, the USPTO will increase its fees for patent-related actions, including filing and search fees, patent issue fees, fees for maintaining issued patents in effect, and fees associated with appeals and extensions in pending applications.
Most of the fee increases are about $10 per action. However, some increases are higher. For example, filing a patent application requires payment of a filing fee, a search fee, and an examination fee. Each of these will increased by $10, for a total increase of $30. The USPTO states that the new schedule will increase patent-related fees by a total of about 2.8 percent.
