The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has announced a plan to open three regional patent offices in the Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; and Silicon Valley, CA areas. A fourth regional office, located in Detroit, MI, is scheduled to open July 13. According to this morning’s USPTO press release:
Selection of the four sites was based upon a comprehensive analysis of criteria including geographical diversity, regional economic impact, ability to recruit and retain employees, and the ability to engage the intellectual property community.
The USPTO expects its new Detroit office to employ approximately 120 people. Timelines and hiring details for the Dallas, Denver and Silicon Valley offices will be announced in the upcoming months.
